My Picks List

I’ve never made a list of things I want in my life. Actually that’s a lie - I’m pretty sure I made a list once when I desperately wanted one of those Barbie heads where you could braid the doll’s hair and do it’s makeup…kinda creepy, but I’ll give my 5-year old self some grace.

In light of the fact that this year was unlike any year I have or will ever experience (knock on wood) I caved and made a list of things I’ve been eyeing for the past few months. A few are things I have used and love, but most of the things on here are courtesy of the Instagram algorithm…which I’ve come to learn knows me way too well.

So here you have it, I give you my gift picks for 2020. Let me know your favorites below - or actually I’d rather hear your weirdest / creepiest gift request as a child.

My Picks List

I may get commissions for purchases made through some of the links in this post. When you make purchases through my commissionable links, you help support my small business. Thank you!

SKIN CARE FAVORITES

  1. Claus Porto // Bar Soap in Madrigal Water Lily & Banho Citron Verbena // A major treat yourself move, but Claus Porto soaps are amazing. Claus Porto soaps are made with a vegetable base instead of animal fat which means you don’t get that weird residue that comes when a soap has been sitting out. They last so much longer than my other drug store soaps which makes them worth the price for me. Also if you haven’t seen their NYC flagship store, the architecture details are to die for. It was always my favorite spot to swing by during lunch breaks on Elizabeth street.

  2. L’Occitane // Almond Skin Oil // I have extra dry skin (especially my legs) and this skin oil makes me GLOW.

  3. L’Occitane // Verbena Cooling Hand Cream Gel // L’Occitane’s Verbena hand cream is a staple in my purse. I love the way my hands feel after I put it on. I pretty much love all of their verbena scented products. The best scent!

  4. Origins // Ginzing Mascara // People don’t compliment my makeup very often, and when they do they always compliment my eyelashes. I swear by this stuff and have been wearing it for years.

FUN AT HOME

  1. Jiggly Puzzle // Emerald Eden // Skyler bought me a Jiggy Puzzle for my birthday this past year and I loved it. You must read the story behind this brand! The founder works to highlight female artists in each puzzle and each piece is a work of art I want to hang in my home.

  2. August Home Goods // Bermuda Geo Round Basket // I love a good catch-all basket (especially for my my yarns and random crafting gear) and this looks like the perfect one. August Home Goods just launched this fall and continuously adds new pieces to their collection.

  3. Make Moves Vintage // Daisy Soy Candles // I’ve been obsessed with Autumn Hachey for a while - her style is so fun and she’s the lady behind Make Moves Vintage. If and when I buy her Daisy Soy Candles, I definitely will not light them! Make sure you check out their instagram and keep your eye out for new pieces.

  4. Tamar Mogendorff // Seashell Pillow Set // It’s been 2 years since I first laid eyes upon a Tamar Mogendorff shell pillow masterpiece. I will own one of these beautiful pillows one day, but for now I will continue to look at them.

  5. Molly Mahon // Mug & Tea Towel // Molly Mahon is one of my favorite British block print textile designers. Her prints are fun, spunky and full of color and I think this mug and tea towel.

  6. Actually Curious // Conversation Cards (conversation cards with meaningful questions) // The mission behind Actually Curious is rooted in bringing people together and fighting divisiveness. This Black-owned business created a card game to get to the root of important topics and start conversations. Bonus points - they are beautifully designed.

IN STITCHES OVER THESE (pun very much intended)

  1. Debrosse // Modern Crochet // DeBrosse is hands down my favorite crochet pattern designer. Her patterns are fresh and stray from the regular ole’ blanket. The patterns are incredibly easy to follow for a beginner crocheter, and fun enough to keep a veteran entertained.

  2. Lycette Needlepoint // “God Bless My Therapist” Canvas // You can never have too many cheeky needlepoint projects …or needlepoint projects in general. Lycette is my go-to for all things needle and thread. Check out her website for fun inspiration.

  3. Jane Austen // Embroidery Book // Ok I didn’t know this until recently, but apparently Jane Austen was incredible at embroidery! This book explores embroidery patterns from the Regency era and I can’t wait to stitch along the next time I watch Pride & Prejudice.

  4. Daisy Farm Crafts // Crochet Baby Blanket Patterns Book (not pictured) // I love crocheting baby blankets for baby shower gifts for friends. I almost always use a pattern from Daisy Farm Crafts. Their patterns are free online, but I would love to have their book in hand to reference!

FASHION FINDS

  1. Stuart Weitzman // Sondra Faux Pearl Combat Boots // I don’t think much needs to be said about these other than my jaw hit the floor when I saw these and tried them on.

  2. Neely and Chloe // No. 65 Graphic Frame Bag Croc Embossed // I’m not a big designer bag gal, mostly because I don’t like a brand name plastered all over my bag. But I do love a cute purse that’s well made. There are too many fun colors in this collection.

  3. Nordstrom / Sezane // Double Breasted Long Coat in blue OR Joe Coat in Vintage Blue // I’ve been on the hunt for a vintage blue wool coat and love both of these options.

  4. Jenny Walton // Soft Purple Swiss Dot Mask Handmade Facemask // Jenny Walton - the Audrey Hepburn of our day stitches the most beautiful facemasks. They look incredibly comfy and I love how they go above the ridge of the nose.

  5. Loeffler Randall // Deidre Safari Woven Belt // A literal twist on a staple.

  6. Mignon Gavigan // Beaded Moth Earrings // A major splurge…but there’s something about sparkly moth earrings that just catches my eye.
